I've been very lucky throughout my career; well my life really. Getting to play with some of the biggest names in rock n roll, like Steve Howe of Yes, Geoff Downes of Asia, Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer ( the E and P of ELP), Sammy Hagar, Ambrosia and most recently with Greg Kihn to drop a name or two. I got my sense of who I wanted to be at a very young age from my parents. They had a big band; Mom was the singer, Dad played piano and sax. How many people do you know that can truly say that they love what they do? Except for my family nothing really drives me like creating music. I've been at it since I was twelve years old. Actually, I started piano lessons at 6 but I was offered my first band gig at 12 because some high school boys thought they could get free gear from my dad's music store. Young rock star status didn't come until I was a freshman in high school and my band released a single. I recorded the song at Tiki Recording Studio in San Jose, CA with my future boss Gradie O'Neal. That started the whole "lovin' the studio thing" for me. I've always played live. I enjoy the rush. Being Robert Berry the performer is not usually who people meet when I'm at Soundtek Studios though, my studio in Campbell, CA. I have to be very chameleon like, but each environment gives me something different; something special.

Alliance is something special. Of all the different types of music that I create for others (I write a new song almost every day), or even for myself, Alliance is trulythe best of all worlds. I get to write about what means something to me, and hopefully inspire the band to take it to the next level. And I get to co-write with Gary and David on their songs. Some of the best songs of my career. We've been doing this for over fifteen years. I feel like the energy in Alliance can definitely go on for at least another 15 years.

And now, at last - - - we are on the road to St. Louis for the start of our first live performances. If you can't be there, I'll catch you at the next one.
